It can generate charts from financial data in various CSV formats, including Yahoo Finance, Google Finance, AMI Broker, Metastock and others. The application supports various analysis indicators, like simple and exponential moving average, MACD and more. Its functionality is straightforward, so it should not take long until you can master the software's controls.

The application is offered free of charge, as its name clearly points out. Free Chart Geany is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Fedora. It can be installed quickly, without making any advanced configurations.

When launched, Free Chart Geany will display a blank user interface, but you can load one or more charts, on different tabs, from a data manager, which you can bring up on a separate window. You can import several CSV files on the manager window, select them and load them on the main interface. It is also possible to download financial data from Yahoo or Google.

Once you load a chart, you can zoom and pan or display the data by days, weeks, months or years. Additionally, you may choose a graph style, such as line, candle, Heikin-Ashi or bars and enable or disable a grid, volumes and linear scales. Indicators can be added on the same interface, beneath the main chart. The application allows you to insert SMA, EMA, MACD and other indicator types. Furthermore, you can add labels and trend lines on your chart, as well as horizontal and vertical lines, trailing text and other annotations.
